Notes
*Amaro :: I recommend J. Rieger Co. Amaro for this recipe. Great substitutes are Montenegro Amaro or Averna Amaro.**Coffee Liqueur :: Mr. Black or Forthave "Brown" are recommended.***Brown Sugar Syrup :: Combine 1/2 cup each of water and brown sugar in a small sauce pan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove the pan from the heat, then allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before using.****Vanilla Bean Gelato :: Vanilla is traditional. Use your favorite gelato flavor if you prefer (such as salted caramel, coffee, or chocolate).Base Spirit : Rye lends a touch of spice to this martini, which plays well with the sweetness from the other ingredients. Bourbon directly ties into the sweetness of the other ingredients without adding any spice. Aged Rum is a little sweet, and adds a really cool complexity to this martini. Vodka is flavorless and straight-forward, which allows the other ingredients to shine. Use your preference!
