Servings: 4 sliders | Total Time: 20 minutes
This is the original buffalo chicken slider recipe that absolutely blew up on Pinterest a few years ago! It has been the most popular recipe on my blog for four years running. It has shredded rotisserie chicken, buffalo wing sauce, ranch dressing, cheese, and green onions.
This makes four sliders and comes together in about 20 minutes, but you can easily double or triple the recipe if needed!

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp. Unsalted Butter, divided
- 1 cup Shredded Rotisserie Chicken
- 1/3 Buffalo Wing Sauce (such as Frank’s)
- 1 tsp. Garlic Powder
- Salt and freshly cracked Black Pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- 1/4 cup Ranch Dressing, homemade or store-bought
- 4 Slider Buns, like King’s Hawaiian rolls
- 1/4 cup chopped Green Onions

Ingredient Notes
- Rotisserie Chicken: This is the easiest route! If you’d rather make your own shredded chicken, I have a small batch recipe that is perfect for these sliders. You can also use any lightly seasoned leftover shredded chicken.
- Buffalo Wing Sauce: Frank’s Red Hot is probably the most popular. There are so many brands making wing sauce now though! Just grab your favorite, or one that looks fun. Pay attention to the spice level (if there is one) and make sure it’s what you want!
- Cheddar Cheese: Sharp cheddar is my go-to, but you can use any cheddar. Pepper Jack, Monterey Jack, Colby Jack, mozzarella, Swiss, or provolone cheese would all work well, too!
- Ranch Dressing: My small batch recipe makes about 1/3 of a cup, and works well on these sliders. You can use your favorite store-bought ranch dressing, OR grab a large ramekin of restaurant ranch dressing from your favorite sports bar. 🙂
- Slider Buns: These can vary in size, but this recipe is designed to use smaller slider buns like the King’s Hawaiian or Pepperidge Farm slider buns.
- Green Onions: These are totally optional, but I highly recommend using them. They add a great pop of flavor against the richer ingredients.
Directions
Step One: Make the Chicken. Preheat oven to 375º F. In a large nonstick pan over medium heat, melt one tablespoon of butter. Add the shredded rotisserie chicken, and toss the chicken in the butter until its coated. Stir in buffalo sauce and garlic powder, and toss the chicken to coat again. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Step Two: Mix the Cheese and Ranch Dressing. In a medium bowl, combine shredded cheddar and ranch dressing. I used a fork, that way I could easily transfer the ranch-coated cheese to the sliders.
Step Three: Build the Sliders. Place 1/4 cup of the buffalo chicken mixture onto the bottom half of a slider bun. Repeat on each slider bun, then top the buffalo chicken with at least 1-2 Tbsp. of the cheese/ranch mix. Sprinkle with chopped green onion (optional!), and then cap the sliders with the top bun.
Step Four: Bake the Sliders. Brush melted butter on each of the top buns before baking. Bake at 375º F for about 5 minutes.
Step Five: Serve. Let the sliders briefly cool, then serve warm with your favorite sides!

Recipe Tips & Tricks
- Use rotisserie chicken for the quick and easy method. Look for a “traditional” flavored chicken, not one that’s like Italian herbed.
- Use ranch OR blue cheese dressing. Whichever you choose, a good ranch or blue cheese makes a difference, so use one you love!
- Don’t skip the green onions. They really do add a pop of flavor that takes these sliders to the next level!
- Add a touch of BBQ sauce to the chicken if you love it. It makes like a spicy BBQ version, and it’s delicious. 🙂

Can I Double or Triple this Slider Recipe?
Absolutely yes! If you need sliders for MORE than two people, you are in luck! This recipe can easily be doubled, tripled, or quadrupled! Just multiply the following recipe by two or three, and it will work perfectly. I’ve also had many readers make sandwich-sized versions of this recipe, by adding two servings of the buffalo chicken onto a hamburger bun. This recipe is flexible, so feel free to serve it however you like!
As I mentioned in the tips above, I am obsessed with adding green onions to buffalo chicken recipes. I highly recommend topping these sliders with green onions right after you add the cheese/ranch combination, or even mixing it into the ranch and cheese. The bite of the onions is a really great compliment to the rich cheese and ranch, and the spicy buffalo sauce.
